Instead, we headed over to Duo, one of our favorite restaurants in town, also in the LoHi neighborhood. There too we were told that the dining room was all full for reservations, but that we could sit at the bar. Which we did.
We sat in the corner, and ordered coffee (we got a medium pot of French press Novo coffee), a bloody Mary, and a mimosa (changed it up a bit and got the pink mimosa aka grapefruit juice. Not sure why it was 50 cents more expensive than the orange juice one though). But it was still tasty.
As we sipped our drinks, Dean decided on the cider glazed pork "benedict" and I opted for the sweet sunday without even asking them to hold the mushrooms - I know. We also got a baked good to hold us over (the chocolate banana bread). Yum. Had insulin (and, uhm CALORIES) not been a factor, we may have ordered the entire basket of pastries PLUS the challah french toast as sides.
The place started filling up. The celebrity doubles for Colin Meloy and Ben Affleck showed up too.
Colin Meloy in the lower left corner, maybe?
...and here - Ben Affleck looking out the window?
an aside...here's an action shot of Dean picking eggs from Grant Family Farms last summer
Look at that! Delicious. We do love Duo. This was our first time having breakfast here, and it definitely won't be our last.
